CJ Judo Teaching Staff
Shozo Fukuda is Former Elite Judo player and alum from the San Jose State Judo program. Sensei Shozo began his Judo career at the age of 5 under the guidance of the legendary Mits Kimura at the San Francisco Judo Institute. Shozo Trained Judo through his childhood for 13 years before moving to the South Bay where he became part of the Judo program at San Jose State University.
Within a few short years, Shozo became one of the top Judo players in the country earning multiple national medals as well as becoming a Collegiate All American. In addition to his Judo Training at SJSU, Sensei Shozo took part in a study abroad program with International Budo University in Japan. There he trained under world judo champion Katsuhiko Kashiwazaki for 1 year. A the conclusion of his competitive career Sensei shozo spent several year traveling the world and coaching the varsity judo program at San Jose State University judo.
Cori is a recent graduate from San Jose Sate University who came to the Bay Area from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She grew up training at the Wahadachi Judo Club under the guidance of long time coach Jim Peterson. Upon completion of high school, her Judo aspirations led her to San Jose State where she blossomed from a junior champion into one of the top Judo players in the country.
In 2008, Cori earned her Bachelor Degree from San Jose State University. For 5 years, Cori was a member of the SJSU Judo program in which she captured multiple Collegiate National Titles. On top of her collegiate championships, Cori was ranked as one of the top players in the United States at 63kg, earning her the opportunity to compete in the United States Olympic Trials.

David Torres comes to San Jose by way of Mexico where he began his Judo training at the Kino Judo club under coach Guillermo Figueroa at just 9 years old. As a junior competitor he made his first visit to San Jose during a training camp when he was part of the Mexican Junior National Team. After graduating high school in Mexico, David made his way to northern California to join the San Jose State Judo program. Over the last few years David has consistently been ranked in the top 4 in the United States 73 kilogram division. He is now in his senior year at San Jose State where he will graduate next year with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology.
